Government Response, or the Lack thereof...

It has become so painfully obvious to me that most Government people, politicians and their civil servants, are not accountable to the electorate. My experience has left me disillusioned and disgusted. It seems that every level of Government from municipal to Provincial and Federal are not interested in talking with and solving the problems of their constituents. Their agenda seems to be, "What do I need to do to get re-elected."

Two issues have been front and center with me in 2005 and 2006. In each instance the various levels of Government seemed oblivious to the problem and failed miserably in extending the simplest courtesy of a timely response let alone a workable solution. The severely damaged river access points due to the raging flood waters of the 2005 run off was completely misunderstood, mismanaged and totally ignored by both Municipal and Provincial politicians. The developer's attack on the Bow River called "Sanctuary on the Bow" is this year's fiasco. It seems to be status quo with all levels of Government. Ignore them and they will go away!

Most recently, Mr. George Read of the Alberta Green Party, is such a culprit. After two months of waiting for a promised response from him, I've given up. It seems almost every politician is not to be trusted. To view the string of very frustrating emails visit Government Responses in the "Responses" Section and then scroll about half way down the page. I tried, really I did, to be courteous and respectful. I found it very difficult to continue in that manner after dealing with people like Mr. Read. I believe a person's word is worth something and that one ought not to make excuses and tell lies when one fails to keep their word.

If as you read these responses, you agree with me, please take the time to write Mr. Read and other politicians to voice your concerns. If you disagree with me, feel free to share your thoughts. My email is below.  I thank you in advance.
