Bow River Fly Fishing Testimonials...."Must Be Nice" Drift Company
| I've recently done some surfing of fishing web
sites and found some of them have
a testimonial page. There are always some letters from an angler from
California,
New York or New Brunswick or even from across the ocean singing the praises of
the guide that they had booked for a day of fishing. To this point, I've not
created the "Testimonial" page on my web
site. My main concern has
been how honest these accounts are and how the fishing public views
them. So I conducted a survey and found that such a page does carry
some weight with potential angling clients. I then requested
from a few clients that they write something to describe fishing with "Must
Be Nice" Drift Company. Below are the comments I received.

Calgarians Roy Millar and Gary Munro Roy Millar "Fishing the Bow River from a drift boat has to be the best fishing experience one can have. The quality of fish is second to none as one can see from the photo gallery Tom provides on his web site. It is an experience every fly fisherman should have at least once in his lifetime. I have fished with Tom for more than 6 years now and can say with confidence that there is no more conscientious or helpful guide on the Bow. He certainly knows where the trophy fish can be found. It is a rare trip when we don’t hook into at least a couple 20 inch fish, or better. All in all, fishing with Tom has been a positive experience and a tradition that I hope will continue". George
Greg
Mason came to the Bow and fished very tough conditions. He was justly rewarded.
"I've been fly fishing with Tom three times now,
which, when you consider I live in England and the fishing is in Canada, is
itself an endorsement of the quality of service he provides. You don't travel
half way around the world and trust your day to just anyone! Greg Mason
"I find as I grow older that things once considered to be luxuries are becoming necessities. Among these I count the company of a good guide. So you might ask what are the attributes of a good guide? First and foremost is a knowledge of the watershed being fished. What do the fish do under different conditions, and more importantly what does a successful angler do to hook a few. Then there is the whole personality thing. If I am going to spend time with a person they damn well better be someone whose company I enjoy. Face it no matter how good the guide there will be those periods of time when the fish seem to have their own agenda. In these trying times it is good to be entertained. It also helps if they tie their own flies. Face it the fish have seen everything in the fly shops. Sometimes the difference between success and failure lies in a fly that is just a bit different than the standard fare. Then there are the intangible things that combine at the end of the day to define the patina of the experience. If a guide is good you are ready to go back in the morning, but should feel sated at the end of the day. In my experience on the Bow River there is one guide who stands above the rest. This man is Tom Cutmore of "Must Be Nice" Drift Company. In the years I have fished with Tom we have become friends. At times I think he knows what I think before I speak and vice versa. I can recommend no other guide with the confidence that I recommend Tom". Marshall Brown
"Just a note to thank you for all your help while fishing the Bow. It was a pleasure to meet you and having you as a guide on our fishing trip. It was great to have all your expertise and instruction on how to fish the river. This was a life long dream of mine and needless to say was very enjoyable. We hope this finds the weather good and the fish biting and hope to see you again soon". Lowell Ewart
"Tom knows The Bow, and he is patient in his instruction. These combined provide for consistently great fishing. We find it a pleasure to spend our days fishing The Bow River with Tom, and always look forward to our return to that special river. The
other thing I want to tell you is that this past summer we met some of my family
in the Maureen Jantz Tom Bixby, another Bow River
convert. "What a great day on "THE BOW". I never thought I would get the chance to fish this wonderful river. When Leona and I decided to see Banff, I thought why not call you and line up a float. I can tell you it was one of my better decisions. A beautiful day on the river in your new boat and we were into fish almost immediately. Twenty odd fish with several in the 20 inch range and some escapees. Obviously your expertise in flies, deflections and rowing pays off. I can't imagine how good it would be if I could hit the "spot" a little better. A gourmet lunch at a scenic site, where I nymphed a couple 15 inch Bows, was a nice touch! Actually, I should have rested my cramping hand so I might have lasted to the end of the day. Thanks for landing that last Bow. A great day on a great river. Come to Wyoming and fish Greys Reef and Miracle Mile with me sometime. Thanks". Tom Bixby, Mitchell NE.
"Tom was recommended to us as a guide by a Canadian friend back in 1996. Since then we have fished with him several days each year. His preparation is meticulous and he is always the true professional, leaving nothing to chance. His care for the river and its fish is exemplary. He now is not only "our guide" but also a good friend. We are pleased to recommend him without reservation. We shall return for more great fishing trips on the Bow, thanks Tom for the red letter days". Bob and Julie Hutchings Buster and his son Thomas hopper

Tom has an uncanny ability to judge where the fish are and constantly feed you information to help you be successful. He clearly is an excellent technical guide who knows the river like the back of his hand. However, Tom is also a very pleasant guy to spend a day with. Over the years we have chatted about many interesting things during the drive out to the river, or when the fishing gets a little slow (not often), or over one of his excellently prepared and presented lunches. He is also a very patient instructor and really did a great job of helping my 10 year old son Thomas have a very enjoyable day when he joined us for his first Bow river trip during the 2003 summer. We plan to make this trip an annual tradition going forward." Buster Moult, Calgary Alberta
